What Are The Symptoms Of Toxic Shock Syndrome?

Hi, I recently tried a new brand of tampons on vacation (scented), and did not realize 10 hours had gone by since inserting the tampon. Prior and after removing the tampon, I went pallid, started having violent doubled over cramps, and shaking. Could this be TSS?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
What problems you are facing due to retention of tampon for a longer period of time is only a local reaction and not the symptoms of toxic shock syndrome (TSS).
Toxic shock syndrome would present with symptoms of chills with rigors, fever, excessive thirst, vomiting, headache, weakness, giddiness and hypotension.
You can take symptomatic treatment by taking Tablet. Paracetamol and intake of good quantities of fluids.
Gradually, your symptoms should subside and be back to normal.
Kindly take care not to forget it to be removed in time next time.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
