What Are The Treatments For Arthritis?

thank you very much. My American friend gave me aleve tablets saying I should take 2 every night, since I have pains in my left knee, artrosis, Becker cyst as well behind it. She is staying here with me in Croatia, Opatija, I am diabetic and always check up what I take apart from my drugs for diabetes. We have voltaren, deep relief and other tablets and gels, but they have not helped me so far. My doctor prescribed that after the inflammation would be gone, he would give me hialuron (spelling) acid 3 injections... thanks very much. Antonija from Opatija, Croatia

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi Antonija,

I am sorry for the situation you are in.

Aleve is the brand name for the generic Naproxen. It is a strong non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID).
Voltaren is the brand name for the generic Diclophenac, which is also another NSAID.

Usually, the treatment for arthritis consists of using NSAID orally and locally, based on the effects they give.

Hyaluronic acid is normally found in high concentrations in eyes and joints. Studies have concluded that hyaluronic acid when given as injection therapy can improve joint stiffness. However, results vary from one patient to another. I hope this treatment will give beneficial results in your case.

I advise to be careful with your diet and lifestyle regimen together with physiotherapy. They will all help improve your symptoms.

Hope it helped!
