Hello and Welcome to healthcaremagic.

Dry skin is genetically determined.

People who are atopic/allergic have dry skin i.e there skin has a low water retention capacity as compared to others.

General measures go a long way in improving the condition.

--Using a good moisturizer, specially the one containing colloidal oatmeal.
--Avoiding soaps as much as possible, instead use a non soap based gentle cleanser e.g cetaphil cleansing lotion
--Wearing woollens over cottons i.e woollens should not be worn over the skin directly.
--A non sedating antihistamine e.g levocetrizine once daily at night would help in symptomatic control of itching without imparing alertness levels.

hope this answers your query.

regards
