What Are The Uses And Side Effects Of Metformin?

I am taking Metformin for PCOS. I got a period on February 7, but have not had another one since. I took a pregnancy test this morning, and it was negative. Is there a reason why Metformin would work for one month and not another? We have been trying to get pregnant for over a year, and I am desperate for answers. Any suggestions?
