Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My husband has a dependency to marijuana. He is trying to quit and after one day, he was unable to eat and said he was sick. Unfortunately, I have difficulty feeling sympathy for him....long story. Should he be feeling side effects after only one day? Is it in his head? What kind of withdrawal symptoms will he feel and is there anything that can be done to make it easier? Thank you, Sue
Hello thanks for choosing HCM for your health related queries
Marijuana is cannabis and is common substance of abuse. The drug is known to cause psychological dependence but serious physical dependence is not seen with this drug. It is a little easier to quit marijuana and withdrawal symptoms are usually mild on stopping the drug. His lack of appetite or sickness after quitting the drug can be managed by medical management.
Most of symptoms he is suffering are probably due to his psychological dependence and can be easily managed. Consult a psychiatrist for management. Low doses of anti anxiety drugs like Benzodiazepines can help to reduce the anxiety and other symptoms. Visit a psychiatrist for prescription.
Thanks, hope this helps you. Take Care
