What Can I Do For Itchy Rashes On My Arms, Chest And Legs Along With Dizziness?

I was given sulfameth/TMP 800/160mg TB for a wound that had a minor infection hosp. wound care said. I never take meds and I am 60. I took it for 10 days. Now I have itching and rash showing up on my arms, chest, stomach, legs, and ears. My back itches too. I have a dry cough and sore throat. I had some dizziness but not bad. Can you tell me what I can do for this?

Hi,

Your rash could be most probably due to a hypersensitivity reaction due to Trimethoprim/Sulfamethoxazole. A viral exanthem is another probable diagnosis. As you have a dizziness and dry cough, you could be having a systemic involvement. So, I request you to kindly visit your Dermatologist for further management.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Siva Subramanian,
