What Can I Do To Treat Coxsackie Symptoms ?

what can I do to treat coxsackie symptoms? I am 31 y.o and have a daughter that wil be 2yrs in a few days. A few days ago she began feeling ill. took her to pediatrician who found blisters on her body and in her mouth, severe rash on her bottom and genitals that occurred 2 days or so prior and we thought was severe diaper rash that goes along with her teething. she was not feeling well, running a temp about 100.3 to 101 degrees. her dr. was baffled about the sores in the mouth and on her body, and only stated that it was a virus of some kind. not sure what exactly what. so she placed her on anti-biotics. now however I also have the same symptoms, extremely sore throat with numerous blisters, blisters are appearing on my fingers and feet, I have had high temps, and feel like crap. I assume that its because I shared a lunch with her a few days ago as we ate from the same utensils and bowl, and I probably picked it up from her. my throat started getting sore about 4 days ago, but blisters did not show until about 1 night ago. looking on the internet and talking to people, the closest thing I can find is the coxsackie. My aunt told me her daughter would get it when she was little. what can I do for both me and my daughter?

Hi,

Your case seems to be a coxsackie which is also called hand, foot and mouth diease. But there is a test called RT-PCR to diagnose it. This disease is usually self limiting and disappear in 7-10 days. There is no known cure or vaccine for this but symptoms causing discomfort can be tackled. NSAIDs can be given given to relieve pain. Fluids are suggested to prevent dehydration. Gel containing Diphenhydramine can be used to prevent hand and foot discomfort.

Strict hygienic measures are taken to prevent the disease.
