I am 53 y/o white female. I recently had an MRI for neck & shoulder pain and a large mass was found in my left thyroid. Needle biopsy showed no cancer cells. TSH levels are normal. However, in the past year I have had unexplained weight gain, fell asleep driving, my hair has become very coarse and in the past 3 weeks has started coming out, in the past 8 months my voice has become hoarse, 2 recent episodes of severe constipation (hospitalized), joint pain. My doctor says I do NOT have hypothyroidism. My daily diet consist of fresh fruit & yogurt bkfst, salads, turkey, chicken, rice, beans and occasionally pasta. Take Metamucil 2-3 x a day. Very active. Can your TSH levels be normal and you still have hypothyroidism?
