What Can A Lump On The Rig Cage For A 1.5-year-old Indicate?

my 1 and half year old has a lump on his rib cage (inside his body) you can see lump on the outside though... the dr did an xray and said he wasn t sure if it was inflammation or cancer. He said he took a needle and took a sample to put under the microscope and said he couldn t tell if it was cancer or inflammation cells because he is not a pathologist. My dog is acting fine, should i get this biopsied?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Any lump that is present for more than 1-2 months needs to be investigated. A punch biopsy is what can be easily done and the material is sent to be checked in the microscope after some staining is done. Only after this histopathological examination, the doctor will have some understanding of the cause of the lump and further course of action.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
