What Can Be Done For Psoriasis And High SGPT And SGOT Level Of Child?

Hi, my son is 10 years old. He has been diagnosed as having psoriasis 2 years back. His sgpt ang sgpt level is very close to the high limit. My wife and brother in law are diagnosed with AS and are hla b27 positive and BIL underwent hip surgery recently. Am worried for my son. What should I be wary of when it comes to my son?

Hi. Thanks for posting your concern at HCM

HLA-B27 is present in 50–60% of patients with psoriatic arthritis and in 90–95% of patients with ankylosing spondylitis but only around 1% of HLA-B27 positive individuals develop AS. So the chances are very less that your son could get AS.

Regarding the higher upper limit of SGOT and SGPT, I would advice that it could be because of Antipsoriatic treatment that he may be on. Various antipsoriatic drugs like Methotrexate causes elevated SGOT and SGPT levels.

take care
regards
