What Can Be Done If Ear Drum Ruptured While Swimming In Ocean?
I went swimming in the ocean a couple hours after I think my eardrum ruptured, what should I do? I was camping with friends, and within an hour my ear was throbbing with pain. The next morning I sat up and liquid just started pouring out of my ear. A couple hours later I felt completely better and didn t hesitate jumping off our boat into the ocean. I don t have a history of ear infections, but my allergies have been especially bad this spring. I m 27, 5 2, 125 lbs. Thank you.
Ruptured ear drum has to be repaired. First you have to confirm it by consulting an ENT specialist. He will do an endoscopy of the ear and confirm it. If it is ruptured, you have to quit swimming, otherwise water may enter into your middle ear, leading to ear infection. Use tablet levocetrizine twice a day for five days. Use water vapor inhalation. If no improvement, please consult your ENT specialist, he will examine and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
