What Can Be Reason Of Stabbing Pain While Having Sex?
Had a merina coil fitted 5 months ago, never had a period since the fitting, however 5 days ago I had a bleed, is this normal? did feel sharp stabbing pain last week while having sex, the the next day period, is not that heavy, mostly worse in the morning?
While having an intrauterine contraceptive device sometimes menstrual irregularities like absence of periods, intermenstrual spotting, pain during periods, etc. can be seen. Also women with intrauterine contraceptive device are more prone to infections compared with women using some other contraceptive method.
As you are having stabbing pain, better to rule out pelvic infection and rarely displacement of the intrauterine contraceptive device. Please consult your gynecologist once, get examined to check the threads of the IUCD and if needed, please undergo an ultrasound to confirm the position of the IUCD then depending on the findings further management can be planned.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
