My husband 75 yrs old, DX d three years ago, has just today begun something and I do not know if we should worry or let it run. He slept for 18 hours last night to today and is still unable to stay awake, falling asleep mid-sentence, on the toilet, etc. This is not something we have faced before and I am trying to figure if he needs to go to the ER or should I just let him sleep? I cannot find anything, yet, online that gives me information about this. Thank you for any help . Cathy Hume
What you are explaining seems to be dulling of consciousness or sedation, that seems to be a cause of concern. If he takes some substance like alcohol or sleeping pills that could be causing this in overdose. If not he needs to be evaluated for physical reasons of such drowsiness. Is he a known case of any medical or psychiatric illness or on any long term medications? All these things need to be evaluated. So please take him for evaluation. Hope it helps you.
