What Can Cause Feeling Of Tightness In The Jaw And Numbness On The Face?

my right eye drew nearly shut and I was unable to open it and I felt a tightness in my jaw also the right side, and I could not smile on that side, there was a numb feeling and tingling on the right side of my face as well. this feeling only lasted maybe 5-10 minutes. I am a 49 yr old woman, I am overweight, but otherwise in good health, i do have a heart murmur. What could that feeling have been?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* There can be possible issue with early signs of facial nerve palsy through some sort of thrombi or embolism effect at the brain circulation above or below the level of facial nucleus in the brain stem.

As there is previous history of heart murmur, I would recommend an ER visit without delay to get diagnosed and treated accordingly.

Would like to revert back with you once your condition is stable and you are in your best position here typing healthily.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
