What Can Cause Pain Around Elbow After Injecting Meth?

I have a friend that told me she was shooting up mEth I believe is what it is and afterwards her elbow is hurting and it feels like pain in the muscle around her elbow area but she was shooting up on the inside of her arm not the outside .what could that be caused from

Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries

I can understand your concern. Crystal meth is one of dangerous substance of abuse. Most likely she has injected the meth by puncturing the vein and this has caused localised inflammation around veins which is also called as Thrombophlebitis. This is the reason for pain in muscles around elbow area. Ask her to apply ice over affected area and then take any good OTC analgesics or drugs like Ibuprofen. This would reduce the local inflammation and will decrease the pain. Heparin containing creams like Thrombophobe cream can also help in reducing the pain and redness. Take her to a doctor if symptoms don't improve. Ask her to not to take drugs again and she may land up in serious problems in future.
