What Can Cause Pain In Upper Back?

Couple of days ago I got this upper back/below neck pain. I am thinking it's it's the way I was sleeping the night before. More of a sprain. I am having trouble turning my head left and right. Also having problems swallowing food unless it is well chewed! Have no problem with liquids. Any Idea what can cause this?
