What Can Cause Pressure In Abdomen With Burning Sensation?

Today, my period is one week late. I took a pregnancy test this morning as soon as I woke up and it was negative. I took one earlier in the week, as well, that was also negative. yesterday morning, I started feeling slight pressure in my lower abdomen accompanied by a slight burning sensation. Later in the day, I was still feeling the same, so I decided I should probably examine myself to see if anything was wrong. I used my fingers to feel the inside of my vagina and it was very swollen. I could feel my cervix and it was much lower and firmer than usual. I don t have any strange discharge or discomfort when urinating. I called my doctor, but they cannot get me in until Monday. Any ideas on what this could be? I m very stressed out about it, especially since I can t see my doctor for a few days.

I have gone through your query and understood the concern. There is no need to worry since you are only a week late for your period. Home pregnancy tests read well 3-7 days after a missed period when performed with a fresh early morning sample of urine. Since you have two negative tests, your chances of pregnancy are remote. You can get a better clarification through an estimation of the serum beta-hCG titres. Urinalysis also is needed to excluded subtle infections which also can cause delayed cycles. Finally, you can get a trans-vaginal sonogram to know the status of the pelvic organs and plan further management. Stress itself can halt a period. Wish you good health.
