What Can Cause Severe Throat Pain And Cuts On The Tonsils?

I had mono two years ago, in October and then again in January. My throat hurts very often now and recently I’ve noticed what looks to be large chunks missing from my tonsils. They are not filled with white “stones.” The just look like deep red cuts in the my tonsils.

Hi,

You can have posterior pharynx inflammation or tonsil infection like a problem. I suggest you investigate with throat swab culture to find any underlying causative organism if present.

Salt water gargle done with warm water three times a day. Maintain hydration with lots of water. I suggest you consult otorhinolaryngologist for posterior pharynx examination.
