What Can Explain Nosebleeds And Headaches In A Child?

My 7 year old had a nose bleed about a week ago that was totally random. I have now noticed that he shakes his head back and forth randomly and I have asked him why he does this and he says that he doesn t realize he is doing it. He usually does it if he has a headache but now he seem to do it all the time. I am setting up an appt for next week should I be worried?

Hi.
The nose bleed in child has to be taken seriously as against the wrong feeling that they bleed from noses in childhood.
The moving of the head may be due to the feeling of tingling or something which may not be possible for such a small child to explain.
IT is better be seen by an ENT Surgeon to see for nasal endoscopy, to see for the source of bleeding , whether from the usual anterior - front of the nasal septum called Little's area or any other mass or so.
Till then instill decongestant nasal drops , go for blood tests including Hb, CBC, platelet count, bleeding time, clotting time, prothrombine time and so on to see that there is no bleeding disorder.
Consult an ENT Surgeon as early as possible.
