What Can Happen To The Baby If I'm Smoking Spice ?

My husband and I have both been smoking spice, which is synthetic THC. It has the chemical JWH-018 in it. I now think I am pregnant. I haven't had my period in a month, but the tests keep saying neg. My question is what can happen to the baby if it has those chemicals in it? what could the baby's condition be? If I stop now, will it be ok? Will the pregnancy be ok?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello ma'am and welcome.

Substance abuse during pregnancy can usually affect growth and development of the fetus, but it depends on when exactly during the pregnancy (gestational age) the abuse has taken place.

I would advise you to visit your doctor to check on your status and also to discontinue the substance abuse immediately, or at least until pregnancy has been ruled out.

Hope this helps.

Best wishes.
