What Can Happen With Vitamin-D Deficiency?

Hi, a month ago, my vitamin D level was 66. Then after a short while it was 44. My doctor prescribed a pill of vitamin d( everyday- for one week). I am 57 yrs of age. After this week's treatment, the level of vit d lifted to 123. Could this time interval of vitamin D deficit be serious enough to cause any health problems ?
