What Casues Excessive Weight Gain And Excessive Sweating?

Hi, I have been taking celexa for a while and I have had no problems except weight gain, which may also be due to life style choices. But my Dr. prescribed me Adipex and it is giving me goose bumps or chills along with increased sweating. I m googling and freaking myself out about serotonin syndrome. I feel fine otherwise, no increased heart rate or tremors. Can this just be a side effect or should I stop the adipex? I tried it once before but actually had increased hunger and stomach ache which I attributed to my acid reflux and began taking my Prilosec regularly before started taking the adipex again. Any advise?

Hi,

Adipex contains Phentermine as an active ingredient. When taken along with Celexa, phentermine has increased the risk of causing a dangerous increase in serotonin levels leading to serotonin syndrome.

Given your symptoms, the possibility of increasing serotonin levels is definitely a concern. Si would be best to discontinue Adipex after discussing with your treating physician.
