Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Im a 27 year old female Im 5 3 and 105 lbs I am a social ciggerette smoker rarely do i smoke on my own. However for almost a week i have noticed a sudden sharp jolt of pain in the center of my chest quite litterally beneath the sternum when i lit my usual cig upon inhaling . I was alarmed but dismissed it...however now its deveolping sort of a pattern becoming more and more consistent. Ive kept my issue to myself until now. But the strangeness and pain intensity is enough to make me worry . Yes i have ceased all smoking until i can find the issue at hand and see if i plan to give it up for good. I know it has something. To do with the cig. But i want to know for sure what it is im looking at at my age .and make an informed decision. On my next course of action thx
Usually, there shouldn't be a pain in the centre of the chest while smoking. But if it does then need to have an examination of the lungs and the heart functions. Usually, any pain noticed in the centre of the sternum can be related to the heart but without having a clinical examination nothing can be on surety. Have an appointment with the cardiologist and get the heart checked once. It's better to look out for a safer way than making tension carried in the mind.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
