What Casues Painful Red Lump In The Groin Area?

I was in Cebu Philippines and 6 days ago got bitten in the night, it s in my grion and very painfull, red hard lump about the size of a tennis ball, I went to hospital here in UK 2 days ago and was prescribed penicilin ant biotics and skin steroid cream, the red area has increaced but the only improvement is a slight dulling of the pain, what should I do?

Hi,

Possibly you are having Lymphogranuloma venereum (LGV) caused by bacteria Chlamydia trachomatis.
Serologic testing i.e.complement fixation (CF) test -Single-point titers of >1:64 support a diagnosis of LGV.
Antibiotic of choice in LGV is Doxycycline.
