What Casues Recurring Bacterial Vaginosis?

I m 18 years old. For the past year and a half, I ve had bacterial vaginosis on and off. My doctor prescribed me Flagyl and it seemed to work. But a few months later, I got it again. On top of that, I m very prone to Yeast Infections. Sadly, I m dealing with both right now. I have a Gyn. appointment on the 10th. But would LOVE some relief now. I ve read that apple cider vinegar helps treat it. I don t have any in the house. I do have regular vinegar and red wine vinegar. Would those work? And if not, is there anything else I could use from home? Thanks so much !

Hello,
When you have recurring vaginoses, some facts should be cleared first. Use of tampons, especially for prolonged hours should be stopped. You should use sanitary pads instead. Avoid vaginal douche and strong soap solutions to clean the genital region. If you are sexually active, check if your partner is clean; else, get your partner also treated. Please get your blood sugar levels checked, undiagnosed diabetes can lead to recurrent infections. Also, both systemic and local treatment is more effective and this should be followed by maintenance courses for at least six months. Hope this helps.
