General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Having cough for such a long time of 4 months in a child of 4 years should be investigated in the following ways:
Consult a Pediatrician and have a second opinion of a Pulmonologist.
Pulmonary function tests, results with bronchodilators like Deriphyllin or
Salbutamol.
X-ray of chest and Ct scan if required to if any pneumonia patch, tuberculosis or so.
Test of blood for CBC and suspected diseases.
All these will lead to a proper diagnosis so that a proper management can be done to relieve the cough.
Burping and vomiting is secondary to the raised intra-abdominal pressure due to coughing and will get solved once the coughing is controlled. His Doctor would advise acid suppressor and prokinetic if required.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T Chandrakant,
General Surgeon
