Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Last week, my eye was a little swollen and closed a little but no pain or any discomfort was present. As of last Sunday, left eye worsened and any kind of light (no matter how dim) killed it... especially the sunlight. I don t have health insurance. I washed eye with baby shampoo, even used diluted organic apple cider vinegar, someone recommended neosporin (did that for about 3 different times), and put a organic green tea bag on my eye. I can now tolerate light but my eye still feels weird all around it... kind of crusty feeling and dry. My vision is blurry and my right eye feels like its been contaminated a little. I m worried about my vision
Hello, Although there can be many causes of swollen/red eye, the fact that you're experiencing discomfort with light (photophobia) could mean that the problem might be in the cornea or with inflammation inside the eye (also known as uveitis).Home treatment with baby shampoo or automedication with neosporin aren't advisable, while vinegar can even be dangerous to the conjunctiva and cornea (the outer layers of the eye). The best idea is to be seen by an Ophthalmologist, in order to reach a diagnosis and be started with the most appropriate treatment.
