What Cause Bleeding While Taking New Contraceptive Pill?

i started my period and as told by a doctor i started taking a new contraceptive pill. i started on the active pills and it reduced my period, but didnt stop it. i finished my period 2 weeks ago and as of yesterday when i took my pill i started to bleed again. is there anything wrong or is this normal?
