I have not been diagnosed with diabetes but my feet are burning so bad at night. i have been craving sugary foods really really bad which is not normal for me and I feel as if I'm always thirsty. my feet and ankles are swelling as well. I see a doctor regularly but was wondering if there is anything i can do to ease any of these symptoms until I can see him again. It is the weekend now and he is not open. I cannot sleep at night the burning sensations are so bad. I have literally soaked them in ice cold water to get some relief.
I can understand your concern for the burning feet. Diabetes is not the only cause of burning feet and there can be multiple other causes of the same.
Most commonly it is seen in nutritional deficiency especially in elderly group patients. You have not told us your age and sex so that a it could have been evaluated better.
In your kind of cases I generally prefer to go for a through examination along with routine blood test and check for the serum vitamin B12 level. It is one of the sole most common cause of burning feet.
It takes bit long time to get better. Vitamin B complex can be taken to take care of the problem.
Hope it helps.
