What Cause Dizziness Upon Standing Up Post Treatment For Pneumonia?

I had pneumonia a week ago and was given azithromycin for 5 days. I finished the antibiotics last Monday . Since then I have had dizzy spells while laying down . They would last about 10 seconds each time. I would also get them as soon as I stood up from laying down. This happens about 5-7 times a day. What is causing this?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my clinical experience, the Azithromycin is not associated with side effect such as postural hypotension and other features similar way. However, for a pneumonia condition, where the associated chest congestion is obvious, co prescription of anti-histamines as Diphenhydramine or else usually given.

It is this type of later molecules which can provoke postural hypotension and other features of dizzy spells. If you can provide me whole list of medications, I can guide you further precisely in this matter.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
