What Cause Dizziness While Suffering From Sinusitis?

I had been having dizzy spells due to a sinus infection for a few weeks. It felt as if I was in an elevator and the floor dropped from under me. I made it in to see my physician and she confirmed a sinus infection and dizziness from fluid in my ears. Well, I finished my z-pack yesterday and all taking Loratadine (10mg) daily. The dizzy episodes are still happening but for the last two days around 2:00pm whole at work and out of NOWHERE I get extremely dizzy with a rush of heat, sweating and shaking uncontrollably for at least an hour. It s a feeling like the second before you throw up and you re hot and sweaty but shaking cold at the same time. I did not feel like I was going to throw up and eat like normal as well as no fever. As soon as I got home I checked my blood pressure and it was 149/110 with a heart rate of 68. I also have a headache and couldn t focus hardly on the drive home. Any ideas on what it could be our what to do? Thank you!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I do understand your pain and discomfort. As per your history is concerned please follow my advise as below:

1) Try to maintain your BP below 120/80,so in your case it is little high so tell your family physician to add 2 medications at a time[Beta blocker+ACE inhibitor][B-BLOC tab-50 mg once & LISORIL tablet-10 mg at bed time]
2) Do an ECG /ECHO
3) Do CBC with differential
4) If your HB% low add iron injection

Your dizziness is due to Blood pressure but not due to middle ear. If due to middle ear it will go away after 21 days on its own, but management of BP is important.

I hope I was able to address your query. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to write to me. Wishing you all the best.

Thanks,
Dr. Uday Nath Sahoo
