Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Mom is having pain which started out in her right hip and gone down into her right upper leg, inside and outside. She is extremely stiff and in pain, rated 8/10. After she walks for a few minutes it is much better. She is 82, always been very healthy and independent. She does have right torn meniscus which recovered almost totally after 3 injections 1 1/2 years ago. What are the possible problem?
Very likely your mother is having arthritis that is causing the pain in the hip and upper thigh area. She will need a good examination and possibly an x-ray to examine her hip joint and confirm the diagnosis. On the other hand, treatments to help with pain, like ibuprofen and paracetamol at the same time with ibuprofen might be helpful to release pain. After the x-ray examination is done, she may benefit from physiotherapy as well.
I hope this answers your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General and Family Physician
