What Cause Pain On The Back Of The Head?

I have been having a slight , dull pain in the back of my head behind my right ear, about 6-8 times a day. It began about 3 days ago. I occasionally get pain and a headache during the night from the pillow I am sleeping on. I have tried several and none prevent the neck ache. It doesn t happen every night. kj

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The pain you describe seems to be a muscular pain. It is not dangerous but it can be uncomfortable. Taking painkillers like paracetamol and ibuprofen can help with pain and sometimes local warm compresses as well. If symptoms last longer then a week or are any worse you will need to see the doctor and better determine the cause of the pain.
Physiotherapy is also helpful in treating neck and head pains that might be due to posture or muscular strain.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
