What Cause Prolonged Menstrual Bleeding After Taking Cortisone Injection?

I got the cortisone shots on September 17 and that was the last day of my last period. I got my next period September 27, and since then I am still on it. 38 days is not healthy and I just wondering why my doctor didn t tell me about these side effects and how long it takes for the cortisone to get out of my system. Thanks!

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Many persons do not have this type of reaction to the use of steroid medication so it may not have been expected.

Prolonged bleeding is very bothersome but there are medications that can be used to stop the bleeding.

Depending on the exact steroid used, the half life can vary from 3 to 36 hours.
The half life of a drug is the time it takes for half of the drug to leave the body. It can take 3 to 5 half lives for most to be eliminated but the effect on body systems may linger.

I hope this helps
