Hi my three year old son is complaining of a sore tummy sore bottom and headache and has a temp of 38c today. At bath time I noticed a red rash on his groin area. He has a slight cough and a runny nose. I am treating him with calpol and nurofen for children should I be going to my gp?
Understanding your concern. As per your query your toddler have symptoms of rashes in the groin along with headaches. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like allergic reaction, urticaria, psoriasis and due to increased susceptibility of body. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to cover the skin and protect it from direct sunlight , apply petroleum jelly and apply cold compresses to reduce redness and inflammation . Also keep your baby hydrated. If condition doesn't get well then consult pediatrician for proper examination . Doctor may prescribe anti inflammatory, antihistamine or corticosteroid ointment after proper examination.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
