What Cause Severe Pain In The Knees And Upper Back?

I have begun to have random bouts of extreme put me on my knees pain in and around my upper to lower right side. I have been experiencing some light upper back pain but nothing serious, however, THIS stuff that has just started within the past several weeks is unbearable. And very random. I am tender to the touch in the area and abdomen is distended and bloated in spite of taking diuretic. No fever but random very high BP........like 188/120 then will drop to normal. No fever, vomiting..I am very healthy and usually am in gym but have been down since Feb 1 due to torn ligaments in foot. I am a non smoker, social drinker, and fairly healthy eater. Any ideas?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms are more consistent with spine related conditions like a prolapsed disc which compress the nerves and giving rise to the symptoms.

As a first line management, you can take analgesics like Paracetamol or Aceclofenac for pain relief.

If symptoms persist better to consult an orthopaedic and plan for an MRI spine.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
