Trichomoniasis is an essentially a sexually transmitted disease. Certain diseases more obviously established and manifested in females whereas certain other STDs are more obviously established and manifested in males. Most of the STDs are less obvious in female without manifestations outside. So females are so often are not aware that they are infected with STD. But it is reverse with Trichomoniasis. It has less obvious in male and not much of symptoms. Diagnosis in male also is very difficult. Likely to get missed to diagnose. In female due to their anatomical space and secretions it can be diagnosed easily on investigation in their discharge in presence of an infection. The negative test does not guarantee that your male partner is free from infection. He also has to be treated in spite of a negative report. Otherwise you may likely to get a relapse. A culture of urine or from prostatic fluid for Trichomonas with medium specific for Trichomonas (Modified Diamond's) will reveal Trichomonas with your boy friend. Very rarely body immune mechanism would eliminate such an infection when it was a mild one. Dr S.Murugan
