What Cause Weakness In The Legs While Suffering From Sjogren S Syndrome?

I have sjogrens & fibromyalgia. I have had bilateral muscle weakness in my legs for over a year. It appears to be progressing to the point that stairs have become very difficult as well as getting up from a seated position. Also having problems swallowing a lot of foods. I have been on hydroxychloroquine for about 7 yrs. Along with celebrex, cymbalta, atenolol, losartan/hctz. I am only 56.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

This indicates probably proximal myopathy or neuropathy. There may be many causes for them. Shogren syndrome itself may cause neuropathy or it may be associated with other connective tissue diseases like rheumatoid etc.

Sometime vitamin D deficiency may also cause proximal myopathy. So it's very important to see a rheumatologist to know the cause and proper management.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
