What Caused A Small Reddish Boil On My Upper Lip?

hi doc, i have a very small reddish boil on my upper lip that is a little painful to touch and has caused a swelling of the lip, could you please tell me what this might be? i think it began when i was clipping my mustache with a scissor a few days ago.

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain a small reddish boil over the upper lip that is also causing swelling of the lip and seems to have occured after clipping of moustaches can be due to causes like:

-Ingrown hair.

-Hair follicle infection.

You should start applying a combination of antibiotic and steroid ointment over it for reducing inflammation..
Take anti inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen..
You should do cool compresses over it as well as the lip..

In case if still it does not improve or worsen, consult a General Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation can be done..

In case if there is an ingrown hair incision can be put and the hair can be removed and gradually it will heal..

In case of hair follicle infection a course of antibiotics can help or if still not improved removed of the infected hair follicle will relieve..
