What Caused Disturbed Sleep While Suffering From Depression?

my 54 year old daughter sleeps off and on all the day long. awake for a short time to eat, or do a chore, or whatever, then immediately lies down again falling asleep right away. every hour she will sleep 10-20 minutes, awaken finds something to eat, snack then repeat the pattern. Even when she is away from home she falls asleep driving, runs around until she drops of exhaustion, but even then only a brief sleep. I think she is depressed, she has gain a lot of weight. had a bypass in 2009, blood pressure out of control. How can I help her.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It is true that depression can make someone sleep a lot but also taking too much of antidepressants can make you sleep. You can try to arrange her a consultation with a psychologist.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
