What Caused Pain On My Upper Lip And A Boil With A Dry Tip?

Dear doctor, 3days back i felt pain on my upper lip and found a boil with a dry tip. As my usual habit i pinched it and removed the dryyellow tip thinking it to be the sees. Next morning i found the lip swollen 3times. Doctor prescribed me ciprofloxacin 500 twice and ibuprofen 400 thrice a day. I have taken these medicene for 2days. Swelling decreased but pain and burning is very high. Also i am applying ointment beneocin. Please advise.

Hi,

As per your query you have symptoms of pain on my upper lip and a boil with a dry tip which can occur due to many reasons like cyst, hematoma, mucocele or a benign growth of the lips. Need not to worry. Keep area moisturized with petroleum jelly and drink plenty of fluids. I would suggest you consult oral pathologist for proper examination. The doctor will examine physically and take a sample for a lab test. The doctor may prescribe antibiotics (amoxicillin)and corticosteroid cream. For now, apply warm compresses and maintain proper hygiene.
