What Caused The Vein Of My Leg To Pop?

i have been walking and exercising a lot lately. I need to loose 30 pounds . I am a woman in my late 40s and have history of lichen planus and no other health issues. two days ago, i felt an irritation sensation and out of no where as I was walking in my office, i noticed a vein on top of my left foot just bulged up really bad and my husband being a physician checked it and said that a vein popped. it got bigger and i put ice and lifted my feet for good half hour. yesterday it spread to a wider point , but today it is better, still looks bruised. why did this happen. my husband says it may be autoimmune vasculitis. I have also been on a juice and vegetable fast for the past 5 days.

Hi Dear !! Thanks for your query to HCM .
Read and reviewed your query and health concerns.
My opinion-
IN the given situation, You seems to be having-Varicose Veins with Failed perforator veins near foot- which needs to be checked physically and investigated and confirmed by your family Physician.
Dear, You seem to be having undetected long standing Varicose Veins which recently got popped up at the failed perforator vein above foot.
The spread to wider point indicates subcutaneous vein leakage, due to engorged superficial veins drained by the failed perforator veins.
Or this could be CCCS-(Chroic Compartment Compression Syndrome of legs) from long walk lately.
Dear the possibility of it being autoimmune vasculitis is not there as it is very possibility, but being lichen planus, it needs to be ruled out.

Do's Suggested-
GetUSG with Doppler Study of BOTH LEG VEINS would fix the cause of this sudden leg problem in your case.
Consult General Surgeon who would investigate and send you to Vascular Vein Surgeon-to Correct this perforator and long / short saphenous vein defect.
Using Venostockings would protect your defective veins in legs.
Other causes of sudden leg vein problem, needs to be verified and ruled out, before giving any treatment.

Hope this would help you to plan further of this complex illness of yours.
