What Causes Nexplanon Site Wound With Discharge, Swelling And Bruising?

I had Nexplanon removed by my physician yesterday. He used silver nitrate sticks/swabs to stop the bleeding. I removed the outer dressing today and have a clumpy, brownish discharge coming from the wound. It is mostly a clear fluid now, but still yellowish brown. Is this because of the silver nitrate or should I be concerned about infection? I do not have a fever and the swelling/bruising seems to have gone down a bit. Just wondering if this discharge is a normal part of the healing process. Thank you!

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Nothing much to worry and it is due to minor inflammation at the site of the implant. You can apply topical antibiotics like Mupirocin for symptomatic relief. Generally, it will settle by itself and you can seek help from a physician in case of signs of infection or pain.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
