General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my clinical experience, there are various predisposing factors which may provoke urinary tract infection after sexual intercourse.
- Short female urethra with high chances of ascending infection via bacteria or fungi at external genitalia
- Hygiene related issue
- Wiping genitals from back to front after washroom use, promoting peri-anal bacteria entry into genital region
- associated urethritis or cystitis
- Low hydration level
- Penile infections of partner
- Low immunity level
- Alterations in the pH and vaginal flora

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
