Hello,

The bitter taste in your mouth is a highly likely side effect of the antibiotics (quinine) that you took for malaria treatment. The taste eventually will come to normal.

You can conceive a child if you are the disease-free and you are not taking any medications.

Certain medications that used to treat malaria, such as quinine, are considered teratogenic, and a woman is recommended not to conceive while taking these medications or recommended to have certain drug free time period before conceiving a child.

Again, if you are on medications, they should be reviewed by your doctor for any side effect for conceiving a child.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Malik Amonov
