What Causes A Black Speck On The Iris Of An Eye?

I have a triangular shaped black speck near the six o'clock position on the iris of my right eye. It appears and disappears seemingly at random. I look in the mirror and see it clearly. I check again 2 minutes later and it's gone. I have been noticing it for a few months now. It doesn't affect my vision. I wear high prescription glasses to correct bad nearsightedness. Needed glasses for most of my life.

Is this something that I should be concerned about? Should I get it checked out?

Ophthalmologist 's  Response
Hello
It seems from the history that you are having problem of serving a black speck which appears and disappears randomly and you are having high refractive error for near sightedness.
This indicates floaters and they indicate problems in the vitreous cavity like degeneration or liquefaction of vitreous which are commonly seen in high myopia.

Hence you need to undergo examination by ophthalmologist to look for posterior segment problems and treatment accordingly.

Thank you
