What Causes A Blighted Ovum?

I had a blighted ovum diagnosed end of July 2013. On 6 August 2013 i underwent a D&C procedure. My partner and i started ttc again beginning November 2013. It is now end July 2014 (9 months) and still have not concieved. we are both 26 years old. I am concerned that the blighted ovum could have been an indication that one of us is infertile. my Obgyn has assured me that we are not infertile as we were able to fall pregnant previously. My menstrual cycles range from 1-36 days, is a 36 day cycle normal. My partner and i try to have intercourse from day 9 - day 22 (about every second day) every month without fail. shouldnt we have fallen pregnant by now? :-(
