What Causes A Bump And Knee Pain Caused After An Injury?

I had a car accident on Wednesday, 5 days ago, I felt an excruciating pain in my front lower leg, right down my knee, at the time of the accident. I thought I would not be able to get out of the car, because of the pain, but I was able and the pain became less as the day passed, by Saturday night, my whole lower leg was swollen, it was painful to walk, there was a 6x6 inch bump in my leg, very hard and painful to the touch, x-rays where normal. Today, Monday the bump is itching, tender with dull pain and it is becoming purple, I feel my whole leg heavy. What should I do? I used to walk/run at least 3 times a week, for about 3 to 5 miles, and compete in 10k, once a month, should I keep on walking and try running short distances, or stop at all?

Physical Therapist or Physiotherapist 's  Response
Hello,

As this sounds more of the muscle injury as x-ray was normal. I will advise doing hot water fermentation and some exercises like the static Quadriceps and static hamstring. Post this you can increase the exercise to weight bearing and pilates. This will help improve muscle torque and give outstanding results. You should do well and Go for running again in about 4 weeks of time.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
