What Causes A Bump In The Groin Area?

Hi I am a 24 ur old female. About 2 months ago I discovered a bump in my groin area right on my bikini line area. I dismissed it but now it's back. Not sure if it went away or if the swelling just went down. I am suffering from really bad allergies but other than that I have no apparent symptoms. Wondering what could be the cause. Called my doc and he told me over the phone that it could be herpes! Are there any other possible causes?
