What Causes A Bump On Gum After Having Bicuspid Tooth Extraction?

Hi, I had a bicuspid tooth extraction 5 days ago. It seemed to have healed nicely. Yesterday, I noticed a pimple on my gum near the gum line. Oral surgeon prescribed oral antibiotic but did not explain what the bump is. He wants me to.come in Monday if not better. Can you tell me what this is?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain a bump over the gum from where tooth was extracted can be due to reasons like:
1.It can be due to any remaining piece of tooth or foreign body inclusion in the extraction socket leading to flaring up of infection leading to formation of an abscess..
2.It can also be due to gum injury leading to formation of a gum boil..

You should take antibiotics and painkillers for a period of 5 days..
In case if it resolves its fine otherwise consult your dentist and get an x Ray done to rule out the exact cause of the bump and get treated accordingly..
In case if there is remaining root piece or foreign body removal of the same followed by antibiotics and painkillers will help..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards..
